Colorado’s mountain towns are definitely known for skiing in the winter. But have you been to one of the many festivals or events in Montrose, Telluride, Ridgway, Palisade, and the surrounding areas? We’ve got a roundup of events that you won’t want to miss this year!
Telluride Balloon Festival → May 31 – June 2
The Telluride Balloon Festival is one of the smaller, lesser-known events, but it is one of the most beautiful! Dozens of balloons will launch into the sky at sunrise around 6:00 am on June 1st and 2nd, surrounded by the San Juan Mountains. Then at 7:00 pm and throughout sunset on June 1st, the balloons with line main street and the light from the fires will illuminate the town of Telluride. Montrose Summer Music Series → June 7, July 5, August 2, September 6
The Montrose Summer Music festival will take place on the first Friday of every month June through September. The concerts in Montrose are free, open to the public, and are held at the Black Canyon Golf Course. Bring a chair or blanket and relax on the golf course. Feel free to bring a picnic dinner. Colorado Lavender Festival → June 28 – July 1
At the Colorado Lavender Festival in the Palisade and Grand Junction areas, you can take guided tours through the lavender farms, pick your own lavender bundles, attend a wine tasting, and sample some of the best lavender essential oil. Ridgway RiverFest → June 29
The Ridgway RiverFest is an annual event that has fun-filled water and outdoor activities and is held in Rollan’s Park in Ridgway, Colorado. The Ridgway Riverfest also supports water quality studies, clean-up projects, and education. There is also a “Junk of the Unc” contest you won’t want to miss! Olathe Sweet Corn Festival → August 3
Got a sweet tooth? Don’t miss the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival! This year it will be held at Montrose County Event Center. There will be food, vendors, live music, and of course— sweet corn. Func Fest → August 9-10
Food, drinks, a campout, and live music from 6 different bands are just a few things you have to look forward to with this year’s Func Fest in Montrose. There will be water-based activities for those who want to test their skills on the river and get wet but there will also be land-based activities for those who prefer to stay dry. Telluride Blues and Brews Festival → September 13-15
The Blues and Brews Festival in Telluride and Mountain Village is known as one of the best and most scenic music festivals in the country. Telluride is situated in a lush Valley of the San Juan Mountains in western Colorado. The surrounding mountains make Telluride the perfect natural amphitheater for listening to some great music.
